The Monkeywing model is a Simmons-inspired planing hull. Short, wide and fast! This model really flies! The Monkey Wing is designed to extract the maximum amount of fun from even the most gutless surf. Very low entry rocker coupled with a wide outline and shovel nose make for easy paddling and instant speed on take off. The bottom is given slight vee transitioning to a single then a double concave out the back. The double concave in the tail compresses water and pushes that energy into the big twin keels generating lots of drive. The Monkeywing has extremely good projection out of bottom turns and the Locus designed keels hold all that speed through turns.
The Monkeywing should be ridden 6 to 12 inches shorter than your standard shortboard.
All Locus boards are 100% hand shaped, glassed and finished by Tyler Hopkins in Santa Cruz, California, Using Marko Enviro-foam blanks and glassed with Entropy bio-based epoxy resin.
